Journal Entry #16 - Spring Recap

As the city comes alive with spring energy, our team has been buzzing with creativity, collaboration, and exciting developments. From project milestones to new opportunities and inspiring industry events, here’s a look at what we’ve been up to these past couple of months.

Project Highlights

Brookdale Project: Complete!
We wrapped up the final phase of an inviting family home in North Toronto bringing in playful wallpaper, soft textures, warm woods, and a colour drenched dining room with fabulous updated lighting. We are excited to share the finished look soon!

Brendan Project: Complete!
We recently transformed a dated midtown bathroom into a fresh, feminine and functional space with custom millwork, beautiful accents, and soft pink tones. Small space, big impact.  We also repurposed a large living space into a combined office and TV/fireplace cozy zone.  We incorporated custom millwork, funky lighting and embraced the beautiful views of the ravine.  This one took a big longer than expected, but the results are worth the wait!

Bermuda Project: Deployment Phase
After months of planning and preparing, we are so excited to enter Phase 3 of the MRD Way with our clients at the Bermuda Project.  Designs are signed off on and we begin demo next week.  Lots of moving parts, but we have a great team in place and are so excited to bring this vision to life.  Follow along on Instagram as we plan to document this journey.

 Collaborations & Gatherings

  • Design with Purpose

May brought MRD and Matter Homes together again, but this time at the Granite Club where I moderated a fabulous conversation about Design with Purpose.  Guests Rebecca Hay (Rebecca Hay Designs), Wendy Smith (Matter Homes), Kate Young (Bosley Realestate) and Evelynn Ratcliffe (Alair Homes) shared from their professional perspective’s the value of designing with purpose, from collaboration to professional teams, to investment – they touched on every aspect of a home renovation from refresh to resale.

  • Trade Partner Spotlight
This month, we’ve joined many other design professionals at the Romo Fabric Showroom’s Re-Opening Party in Toronto. We celebrated the beautiful new showroom, were treated to a delicious spread and came away with some amazing memos for an upcoming project.
